Welcome to the Penn Yan Central School District, Home of the Mustangs!

We are very proud of our students, our staff, our facilities, and the many programs we offer here each and every day. Our priorities as a district are to Engage, Educate, Empower and Enrich Every Student, Every Day. We seek to help students find success in every area of their school careers both inside and outside of the classroom.

Located in Yates County, the Penn Yan Central School District (PYCSD) serves over 1,400 students in Pre-Kindergarten through twelfth grade. The district is divided into three schools: Penn Yan Elementary serving grades Pre-Kindergarten through grade five, Penn Yan Middle School serving grades six through eight, and Penn Yan Academy serving grades nine through twelve. All three schools are located on the same campus close to the center of the village of Penn Yan at the eastern tip of Keuka Lake. The school district comprises over 174 square miles in the heart of Yates County.

Our academic programs include a full-range of liberal arts, fine arts, and career training. We believe students should be able to reach the heights of their abilities through rigorous course work and a wide-range of subjects and opportunities. These include accelerated middle-school courses in several subjects, Advanced Placement (AP) courses in all subject areas, Project Lead the Way pre-engineering and bio-medical course sequences, and more FLCC Gemini-Courses than any other school district in the region. In fact, many of our students take enough college credit courses to enroll as second semester sophomore when they graduate from Penn Yan!

In addition to our academic programs, we offer a wide range of electives, clubs, and activities so each and every student can follow their interests and passions. Penn Yan is one of only two districts in the region to offer an Orchestral String Program in addition to our bands and choirs. Students as young as elementary school can participate in after-school clubs and activities including Honor Society, Debate Team, Master Minds, and Drama. Our athletic programs are consistently strong and founded on the principles of sportsmanship, participation, skill development, and being a team-player.

If you’d like to learn more about our excellent academic programs, wide-range of curricular and extra-curricular offerings, and intense focus on helping students develop as leaders, please contact us!
